School Nursing- Highland

Who are we?

You may think that School Nurses only support children within the School setting, but this is not the case. School Nurses are based in communities and can visit children and families in their own homes, or in local community centres. We offer the same service to all children and young people in Highland, regardless of whether you attend school or not.

Information Sharing

Although we are called 'School Nurses' we are not directly linked with Schools and would never share your information with School staff. We understand that confidentiality is important to you and would like to assure you that all personal information will be kept strictly confidential except from when there may be a risk of harm to yourself or someone else. We will always be upfront and honest with you in the event that we do feel it is necessary to share information.

How We Can Help?

We can help provide whole family support particularly where there are emotional and mental health pressures, drug and alcohol problems, when families are separated, and when children and young people may be cared for away from home. We can provide support for sleep issues, bladder and bowel problems or food and diet concerns or if sexual health support is needed.

How to contact us?

We will send you a letter at the start of the P1 academic year to inform you of our service, along with information about health screening (hearing check and growth measurements). If you move into the area from out with Highland, we will also send you a letter to inform you of our service and how you can contact us should you wish.
